Change your TO DO List into a DONE List!

bend space and time Aug 01, 2018

Do you ever struggle to change your "To Do" list into a "Done" list?

Have you ever gone to bed at night and you were just about to fall asleep when all of a sudden you realised "oh no I never got X done today" or "oh I forgot to call Billy" or "oh I never picked up that parcel from my neighbour". You lay there thinking to yourself what else did I forget and then it escalates into a list of Things To Do and it keeps you from having a good nights sleep.

If you can relate to any of the above we know exactly how you feel as we felt the same way until we came up with a very effective system on how to overcome this common problem!

We have a Free download at the end of this blogpost for you to print out and give it a go straight away. This is what we do here in Dore Concepts individually and as a team. We also use this same process when coaching clients one to one or in group sessions. it is so effective and powerful we would love to share it with you today if you are open to trying it out?

The first thing to do after you have printed out the free download is the following:

Step 1: Ink it, and don’t think it

Turn off your mobile phone and get into a place of silence, (your own time and space away from everything, with this sheet). The secret is to write down everything you need to do, as fast as you can and in no particular order on this free download. Once you feel like you have finished writing, take a few deep breaths and ask yourself, “Is there anything else that is really important to me that I need to do?

Stay silent for a few seconds and if more “Things To Do (TTD)” start popping into your mind, just simply write them all down.

Please remember this “Things To Do (TTD)” list, can be anything from washing your car, meeting your friend for coffee, a business meeting, exercising etc. The key ingredient is to just simply keep writing as fast as you can and in no particular order, everything that starts to flow into your mind. Anytime you have something that you feel is important and is a thing to do, reflect back to this page and write it into “Things To Do (TTD)”. If nothing else comes to mind, then you have finished Step 1.

The purpose of this process is to ink it, and don’t think it. This allows you to free up your mind, resulting in new fresh ideas coming through. The minute ideas and things to do start popping into your mind, write them down ASAP! Do your best to have this sheet or sheets by your side, even beside your bed or even in your bed!! The secret then is to take action on these ideas and decide on the day you are going to do them. This is for sure one of our secrets in why we get so much done in such a short period of time here in Dore Concepts. We refuse to keep thoughts/ideas our mind. We always write them down or doodle, draw or sketch what comes to us.

Step 2:  7-14-21 Days

How to structure and prioritise your “Things To Do (TTD)” list.

The key component here is to run your eyes down the list and ask yourself, is this something I need to do today, or tomorrow or in ‘7-14-21’ days’ time?

If it is a thing you need to do today, write down 1 in the line provided, 7/14/21 (Day) if it can wait until tomorrow write down 2, if it’s in 7 days’ time write down 7 or 14 or 21. Anything else, you can put in, “CB” which means “Come Back”. The purpose and goal of this process is to get the most important things in a format which allows you to start getting this list completed. We have another sheet to go with this and recommend for you to print out 7 of these if you find them useful and use them as your weekly things to do list.

As always we are here to help and support you in any way we can and we look forward to hearing how you go from a "To Do" list into a "Done" list!
